The Transdisciplinary Institute for Ethics, Diaconia, and Digitalization was founded in 2025 at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Hessen (EHH).
The institute develops and conducts research projects and expert studies that analyze the ethical-normative and socio-political aspects of topics related to diaconal work, the church, and social work—with a particular focus on the challenges, broader implications, and resulting societal questions of digitalization.
Ethical considerations are of particular importance to the Protestant SAGE profile of the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Hessen. Through the institute, research in this field is further strengthened, while practice partners are also offered support in addressing ethical questions and conducting research projects. In doing so, the TIED works in a transdisciplinary, gender-sensitive, and historically informed manner. National and international collaborations support and complement the institute’s project work.
