At the institute researchers from various disciplines work together in a transdisciplinary manner, which means:

The institute offers research opportunities that connect theory and practice, for example in the context of technological developments in artificial intelligence and digital technologies in relation to the social sector, with a particular focus on their ethical and socio-political dimensions.

Secondly, the institute aims to contribute to the development of a critical diaconal studies framework in the sense of “digital diaconic studies” and to generate expertise on digital, economic, and social developments within the diaconal sector.

Thirdly, the institute engages with socio-political issues by examining their ethical dimensions and societal implications, particularly in terms of future-oriented development as well as long-term sustainability. Issues of social inequality, the transformation of social policy, and societal participation in general are also addressed in this context, as are aspects of corporate social responsibility (CSR), digital responsibility, and sustainable economic practices.
